An Easier Exchange of Tickets

Florida Studio Theater is a non-profit theatre that serves over 200,000 attendees and 32,000 seasoned subscribers per year. With multiple shows, showtimes, and seats per season, it was becoming too costly for the box office at FST to manually exchange tickets for guests. They needed to give season pass holders a simple, convenient way to exchange their tickets online.

Unfortunately, FST's ticketing platform Tessitura does not offer a product like this to their customers. We needed to build a completely custom product that met both the guests' needs and FST's needs, all while syncing with Tessitura.

We built a custom ticketing exchange solution overtop Tessitura that allowed guests to exchange tickets or seats to any show with ease.

My Role

I did this project while working for ATLARGE. My role in this project was:

Solving Multiple Problems

In order to build a successful ticketing exchange, we needed to allow the users to do multiple tasks all the same time, including:

  • Log into their private account
  • Review their current shows
  • Change the date of a show
  • Change the time of a show
  • Change the seats of the show
  • Confirm their changes
  • Pay any upcharges from selecting higher-priced tickets

Here's What We Built

Display Shows Available for Exchange

Once a guest was logged in, we needed to pull the shows they've already purchased that were available for exchange. We also needed to educate guests on what the new ticket exchange platform was and how to use it.

Offer Multiple Exchange Types in One Screen

Guests needed to be able to specify how many tickets (which seats) they wanted to exchange and select a new date.

Select Their New Seats

We reminded the guest of how many tickets they selected to exchange, where their old seats were, and allowed them to select new seats.

Alerted Users of Price Increases

The guests needed to be aware of if the new ticket they selected costed more, so we displayed a running balance.

Make Another Exchange or Check Out

Once a guest finished their first exchange, they were asked if they'd like to make another exchange or check out.

Built a Checkout System

We made it easy for guests to pay their remaining balance.
